This full day course is designed to help officers identify subjects who are under the influence of substances other than alcohol. The content will help to detect impaired drivers as well as recognize signs and symptoms of impaired individuals. The course content can easily be adapted to other aspects of police work.

The course will cover street drugs, prescription and over the counter medications as well as other substances of abuse. Attendees will learn how each of the seven drug categories effect clinical indicators such as eye and pupil reactions, pulse, body temperature and how to readily recognize these indicators. The course will offer an overview of the Standardized Field Sobriety tests and an introduction into the Drug Recognition Expert program. Current drug trends, paraphernalia, methods of ingestion and current case law will also be discussed.
