NJDOT Advisory - Rt. 30, Galloway Township
New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced right lane closures on Route 30 eastbound and westbound over the next several months, as the Route 30 and Cologne Avenue Intersection Improvement Project begins in Galloway, Atlantic County.
From 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday, January 23, and continuing daily Monday through Friday at the same times over the next several months, NJDOT’s contractor, South State Inc., is scheduled to close the right lane on Route 30 eastbound and westbound at the Route 30 and Cologne Avenue Intersection. Next week’s lane closures are required to install construction signs and a temporary traffic signal at the intersection. In the following weeks, lane closures will be necessary for underground utility work. At least one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction. Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution, and expect delays or plan an alternate route.
The $4 million federally-funded project will improve the safety of the Route 30 and Cologne Avenue Intersection by restriping the existing Route 30 approaches to designate left turn lanes in each direction, one through lane westbound and two through lanes eastbound. Other improvements will upgrade the existing traffic signals and street lighting, as well as add new or reconstruct sidewalks with ADA-compliant curb ramps and sidewalk extensions. Work is expected to be completed in fall 2023.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT's traffic information website www.511nj.org for real-time travel information and for NJDOT news follow us on Twitter @NewJerseyDOT and on the NJDOT Facebook page.
