This course is designed for those personnel who serve or will serve as a supervisor of their agency's field training program for police, corrections or communications personnel. At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
• Design a field training program or modify an existing one to be more effective and up-to-date.
• Understand the "San Jose model" of field training and apply it to their agency's training program.
• Recognize the common errors associated with Daily Observation Reports (DOR's).
• Discuss the various roles of the Field Training Officer Supervisor.
• Examine the court decisions that affect field training programs.
• Employ strategies for dealing with problem trainees and trainee-trainer conflict.
