Atlantic County Animal Shelter Waives Adoption Fees, November 1-15

In recognition of the first week of November as National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, the Atlantic County Animal Shelter will waive all adoption fees for dogs and cats beginning November 1 through November 15.

Sixty-three percent of American households include pets, yet fewer than 20 percent of pets are adopted from shelters.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to adopt a pet and become better acquainted with the shelter, a vital resource for our community,” stated Dennis Levinson, Atlantic County Executive.

Pets adopted from the Atlantic County Animal Shelter receive mandatory sterilization, age-appropriate vaccinations, diagnostic testing, a microchip and a free veterinary consultation. Adopted dogs also receive free obedience classes.

Normal adoption fees are $110 for dogs and $85 for cats.

The shelter is located at 240 Old Turnpike Road in Pleasantville and is open to the public by appointment seven days a week, 1-4 PM. Call (609) 485-2345 to schedule.

“Thanks to the dedicated staff and volunteers who protect and care for the lost and displaced animals in our care,” added Levinson. “We could not successfully operate without them. We proudly acknowledge their important public service during Animal Shelter Appreciation Week.”
