Atlantic City Expressway Lane Reductions, Milepost 2.6
Beginning Wednesday, October 9, weather permitting, the Atlantic City Expressway will be reduced to one lane in both directions for short intervals near milepost 2.6 (just west of the Interchange 2 ramps and east of the Sunoco station) for the installation of temporary concrete traffic barriers.
Following the completion of this installation, the Expressway will be reduced to two lanes in each direction for a period of approximately three months for a culvert rehabilitation project.
Motorists may experience delays and should plan travel time accordingly or seek an alternate route.
Emergency Closing - Nacote Creek Bridge, Port Republic
Effective as of 2 PM on Wednesday, March 20, the Nacote Creek Bridge (PR-7), Old New York Road (CR610) over Nacote Creek in Port Republic is closed to all traffic following an interim state inspection that found additional deterioration of the bridge that is scheduled for full replacement by the county beginning later this year.
The state has been inspecting the bridge every three months to ensure its safety. Prior to today’s inspection the bridge had last been inspected before the beginning of this year and was not found to be unsafe for travel at that time.
Atlantic County has been working with the state Department of Environmental Protection and the Army Corps of Engineers for permitting approvals. Construction was originally scheduled to begin as early as July but will now be delayed for a few months due to the rigors of bridge permitting.
A detour will be posted and motorists are advised to plan travel time accordingly.
