Atlantic County Celebrates National Voter Registration Day

The Atlantic County Superintendent of Elections Office will celebrate National Voter Registration Day, Tuesday, September 22, by holding an open house at each of its two office locations in Atlantic City and Mays Landing.

National Voter Registration Day aims to strengthen our communities by promoting voter registration and encouraging citizens to exercise their right to vote. More than 356,000 Americans have registered to vote since its 2012 inaugural observation.

“National Voter Registration Day is an ideal time for individuals and families to learn more about the voting process and the services provided by our Superintendent of Elections Office,” stated Dennis Levinson, Atlantic County Executive.

“Our services are varied and extend beyond Election Day. They include community outreach, reports, voter histories, change of voter status and more,” said Superintendent of Elections Maureen Bugdon. “We work year round to help educate people about the importance of registering and the ease of voting.”

The Superintendent of Elections is responsible for voter registration, the enforcement of election laws, the custody and maintenance of voter registration records and voting machines, as well as other election related matters.

The open house will be held 1-5 PM at both locations: 1333 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City and 5920 Main Street, Mays Landing. Voter registration forms and sample voting machines will be available. Representatives of the Superintendent of Elections Office will be on hand to assist members of the public with any of these items. Children and families are encouraged to attend.

“This is a fun and informal way to bring greater awareness to the public of all that we do in addition to promoting voter participation in the electoral process,” Bugdon added. “Please consider stopping by.”
