P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Training Course

The Atlantic County Police Academy will be delivering a training class on the “PATRIOT System” at the Atlantic County Police Academy 5033 English Creek Ave. Egg Harbor Twp., ( Canale Training Center) NJ.
This course is a DHS approved initiative. There is no cost to attend this training.
The training is an interactive two-day class and field exercise is designed to provide sworn law enforcement officers with training on using the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. System (Pro-Active Terrorist Recognition and Interdiction Operations and Tactics)™ to detect, deter or minimize terrorist attacks. This training is for law enforcement personnel, who routinely and regularly patrol and monitor activities at mass transit terminals, airports, sporting events, shopping malls, theme parks, school complexes, and other high-volume pedestrian and traffic venues, with training on using the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. System™ in order to detect, deter or minimize terrorist attacks. This workshop focuses on suspicious behaviors and provides pro-active threat mitigation training using an additional effective layer of security within existing budget and resource constraints. This workshop will explain the methodology used by law enforcement and security personnel to detect suspicious behaviors related to terrorist and/or criminal activity.

Those individuals who successfully complete the course will be certified to screen members of the public using predetermined standards for ordinary characteristics and behavior. The P.A.T.R.I.O.T. System™ is a low-cost procedure for detecting persons who are high-risk through simple non-custodial and non-threatening, consensual encounters with the public by law enforcement officers and security officers.

The goals of the workshop are to:
• Identify persons who may be high security risks in public places based on behavior and appearance;
• Conduct a brief non-custodial interview to determine if a person is high risk or low risk;
• Take appropriate risk mitigating action; and
• Identify proactive areas of acceptable resolution

Class sizes are limited to twenty-five students.
