Multiple Mosquito Ground Sprays Scheduled for September 14

The Atlantic County Office of Mosquito Control has scheduled multiple ground sprays for portions of Absecon, Pleasantville, Linwood and Somers Point as part of the county’s ongoing efforts to control adult mosquitoes and reduce the spread of mosquito-borne illness.

The ground spray applications will take place, weather permitting, on Thursday evening, September 14 between 7:30 PM and 11 PM, using Zenivex, E4 RTU, the trade name for etofenprox, applied as an ultra-low volume aerosol.  

The area to be treated in Absecon is bounded by Pine Street, Shady Lane, N. Shore Road, W. Church Street, and Pitney Road.

The area to be treated in Pleasantville is bounded by N. Main Street, Nevada Avenue, 6^th Avenue, Ocean Avenue, Larchmont Drive, Montclair Drive, Elmhurst Avenue, and Cedarcrest Avenue.

The area to be treated in Linwood and Somers Point is bounded by Kirklin Avenue, Wabash Avenue, Shore Road, W. Wilmont Avenue, Bethel Road, and New Road.

The Environmental Protection Agency does not require people to relocate or take special precautions during mosquito control spraying. The public may choose to avoid or minimize exposure by staying indoors during application; keeping windows shut; window fans and air conditioning off or set to circulate indoor air; keeping children’s toys indoors; keeping pets and their food, water dishes and toys indoors.

Mosquito Control officials remind residents of the importance of removing standing water from their properties, cleaning their gutters to eliminate potential mosquito breeding grounds and cutting high grass around their yards.
