Earn While You Learn through Summer Youth Employment Program

Atlantic County residents, 16-24 years old, can earn $15 an hour while gaining valuable knowledge and work experience with participation in the Summer Youth Employment Program.

“This program has been very successful in providing youth with a chance to explore potential career paths and earn money and experience while doing so,” stated County Executive Dennis Levinson. “It has also been beneficial to local employers that are dealing with staffing shortages.”

Sponsored by the Atlantic County Workforce Development Board, the program matches youth with area employers for 8-week paid internships between May 1 and August 31. A wide variety of job placement opportunities is available with government agencies, local businesses and non-profit organizations.

According to Executive Director Francis Kuhn, the WDB hopes to place 200 youth in positions for 25 hours per week with the potential for each to earn $3,000. Funding for this program is provided through the NJ Department of Labor and Workforce.
