Atlantic County One-Stop Career Center Offers Help for Job Seekers as Extended Unemployment Benefits End

Federal Extended Unemployment Benefits End September 4

As of September 4, the federal American Rescue Plan Act extended unemployment benefits will end, along with the weekly $300 supplemental benefits, impacting more than 200,000 state residents.

In-person unemployment services will no longer be available at One-Stop Career Centers, including the Atlantic County One-Stop at 2 S. Main Street in Pleasantville.

All unemployment claimants are asked to file new claims, update existing claims, or inquire about their claims online at: https://myunemployment.nj.gov. Claimants can call unemployment services at 856-507-2340. An expanded call center and redirected personnel have increased the capacity to address callers’ issues and better manage the record number of unemployment claims that have been filed during the pandemic.

Fortunately, for those who are looking for jobs, thousands of businesses throughout New Jersey need workers. With greater competition for open positions, many industries are offering increased hourly wages and sign-on bonuses to attract and keep workers.

State and county workforce partners are ready to assist job seekers with a range of career-related services. These services include job search assistance, resume reviews, career counseling, webinars and workshops, on-the-job training, information about training grants for unemployed and underemployed, and connection to career services.

To help promote a successful job search experience, the New Jersey Department of Labor recently launched Job Source (www.jobsource.nj.gov). Users can create a free account and get tips and templates for job search, resume writing, cover letters and many other free services.

The Atlantic County One-Stop Career Center offers career-related services and information through its website, www.learntrainworkac.com  Currently all in-person services are made by appointment only.  Residents may call 609-485-0052 Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM.
