The Atlantic County Sheriff's Office will host an Ident-A-Shred event on Saturday, October 22, 2011 from 10 am to 2 pm. This event is FREE and is open to all county residents and small business owners. The Sheriff's Office has partnered with CINTAS Document Management, Money Management International, and the Shore Mall to provide this free service to residents and businesses of this county. This event, in support of National Protect Your Identity Week, will feature the CINTAS destruction truck as well as information on protecting your identity from Money Management International and the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office. The event will be located in the front of the mall, at the former K & G department store.
"Identity theft is a multibillion dollar industry that is used to fund organized crime. Specialized equipment, infrastructure and skills are necessary to create fake identification. One or two pieces of personal information from your garbage are all that is required to steal your identity," Balles said. "Every dollar matters today, whether it is your dollar or the dollar of a local business man. If we can assist, we will." Newspapers, magazines, and items of general nature should be recycled through regular methods. "We are here to assist with items with your personal information or business information," stated Balles.
When confidential information needs to be disposed of, the most secure method is the complete destruction of the document. Document shredding allows you to quickly and efficiently destroy documents.
