Beginning July 11, the annual produce vouchers for low income county residents 60 years and older will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last at county senior centers and several senior housing complexes.
The vouchers, distributed by the Atlantic County Division of Intergenerational Services, allow recipients to purchase locally grown fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs at participating farm markets through October. Each eligible recipient will receive five, $5 vouchers for a total of $25.
The state requires the county to target low-income senior citizens for participation. Residents must be 60 years or older with an annual gross income that does not exceed $1,872/month or $22,459 annually for one person or $2,538/month or $30,451 annually for a married couple.
Eligible participants will receive five, $5 vouchers per person. They may spend one voucher at a time, but will not receive change if they do not use the whole value of a voucher. Participants may go to any site to receive vouchers and may call ahead for details. A list of participating farmers’ markets is available at: www.aclink.org/intergenerational.
No vouchers will be issued without proof of income which may include a Social Security statement, last year’s income tax return, a W-2 form, or current valid low-income program verification. Please note that Medicaid cards and bank statements WILL NOT be accepted as proof of income. Proof of identification and residency as verified by a driver’s license, utility bill, senior ID card, or posted mail is also required. Recipients must also present proof of age (ID with date of birth).
Vouchers will be distributed to eligible residents at area locations July 11-August 2. Visit www.aclink.org/intergenerational for locations and times.
