Atlantic County is preparing for the potential of its first snow accumulations of the season beginning late Friday and continuing through Saturday.
County officials are monitoring weather forecasts, reviewing emergency plans and mobilizing resources as may be necessary. At this time public work crews are not pre-treating roadways as precipitation is expected to begin as rain before changing to snow. Should the forecast change those plans may be modified.
Residents are also advised to monitor forecasts and plan accordingly. The heaviest accumulations are expected to occur on Saturday which may result in reduced visibility. Motorists should proceed with caution on snow-covered roadways.
This is a good time to check and replenish supplies such as batteries, flashlights, bottled water, provisions for infants, elderly and pets as well as daily medications.
Those in need of non life-threatening assistance during this weather event should contact their local office of emergency management. Contacts numbers are available on www.ReadyAtlantic.org and in the phone book. Anyone who experiences a life-threatening emergency should call 9-1-1.
