The National Weather Service has issued the following advisories for our area, beginning today through Thursday.
Winter Weather Advisory - 4 PM today through 6 AM Thursday
Wind Advisory - 7 AM today through midnight tonight
Coastal Flood Warning - 1-8 PM Thursday
Mixed precipitation throughout the day before changing to snow toward evening. 2-4 inches of snow accumulation possible. Wet snow coupled with wind may cause scattered power outages. Wind gusts of 40-50 mph with strongest winds expected to occur this afternoon into evening. Residents should take precautions to secure loose outdoor objects that could become airborne.
High tide will occur in Atlantic City at 2:45 PM today with forecasted tide level of 6.5 ft. above mean lower low water and again at 3:20 AM on Thursday with forecasted tide level of 7.5-8 ft. above mean lower low water. Wind and wave action may result in beach erosion.
Motorists should exercise caution as periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will impact roadways and visibility. Some road closures may be necessary during times of high tide. Do not attempt to drive through flood waters. The water may be deeper than you think and you may risk your safety and cause damage to your vehicle. Move parked vehicles to higher ground.
Residents are advised to replenish disaster supply kits and review family emergency plans in preparation for possible power outages and flooding and to continue to monitor weather forecasts and heed instructions from public officials.
