Please note, the following information has been provided to Atlantic County by the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
Additional traffic pattern changes are planned along Route 30 (White Horse Pike) in Galloway Township as the Pomona Road (CR 575) intersection improvement project progresses to the next stage of construction, NJDOT officials today announced.
Later today, NJDOT’s contractor, Mount Construction Co., is scheduled to shift all travel lanes on Route 30 - through the Pomona Road intersection - to the right, in each direction, onto the newly reconstructed outside shoulders and establish a new construction zone in the center median portion of the highway. Once the new traffic pattern is in place Route 30 will continue to carry two travel-lanes in each direction, west of Rosemarie Avenue, during daytime and peak-period hours utilizing the existing roadway shoulders.
Route 30 remains reduced from two lanes in each direction to one lane in each direction between Xanthus Avenue and Augustus Avenue - to the east of Pomona Road – as a new culvert is being constructed underneath the roadway.
The ongoing $6.5 million project aims to improve safety and reduce congestion at the intersection of Route 30 and Pomona Road by widening the cross section of Route 30 to feature new left-turn lanes at each approach on the highway. Work is anticipated for completion in fall 2012.
Dynamic message signs are being utilized to inform motorists regarding any changes in traffic patterns.
The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
